Portugal was born here, in the middle of mountains and slopes covered by lush vegetation, rivers and natural parks. With the granite of its mountains many historic and faith monuments were raised and immortalized in Romanesque and Baroque small churches, or castles and noble houses where they still welcome the visitor with warm hospitability. Nevertheless, what characterizes the region is the scenario of Douro river whose valley was classified as World Heritage thanks to the unquestionable beauty of the vineyard slope that romantically stretches out along the river and the hills that surrounds it.
Nowadays, it is becoming one of the most visited places by the traveller that preserves nature, loves the good gastronomy and, especially, likes losing himself through hundreds of vineyards, smallholdings where each producer has a piece of land and where he likes welcoming and learn about what makes him proud – the wine. |
